Our Eight Bells
Treble (1st)
The lightest bell, a treble, was recast in 1947 by Mears & Stainbank of Whitechapel. It weighs 4-3-8 and has a note of D.
2nd Bell
Also recast by Mears & Stainbank in 1947, the 2nd bell weighs 5-1-12 and has a note of C♯.
3rd Bell
Cast by John Warner & Sons in 1891, this bell weighs 6-0-18 and has a note of B. It was re-tuned in 1981.
4th Bell
The 4th bell was made by Alfred Bowell of Ipswich in 1922. It weighs 7-1-13 and rings an A.
5th Bell
This bell dates back to 1891, cast by John Warner & Sons. It weighs 8-3-12 and has a note of G.
6th Bell
The 6th bell was also cast by John Warner & Sons in 1891. It weighs 10-1-16 and has a note of F♯.
7th Bell
This is the oldest bell in the tower, cast in 1720 by Richard Phelps of Whitechapel. It weighs 13-3-6 and has an E note.
Tenor (8th)
The heaviest bell, the tenor, was recast by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry in 1989. It weighs 21-0-5 and has the lowest note, D.
